COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS

The New Jersey Real Estate Commission requires that candidates for a real estate license successfully complete a 75 hour pre-licensing course.  “Successfully complete” means more than just attending class for 75 hours.  Students in any New Jersey real estate course recognized by the Commission, must pass a final examination.  Students who have passed the exam, are eligible to take the State Test.

We are committed to make your learning experience as productive as possible. There are a few things that you should review to ensure that you give yourself the best opportunity for success.

Number #1   Get your textbook ahead of time.  We use the text, Essentials of New Jersey Real Estate by Lank and Sobeck; published by Dearborn Press.  There are 22 chapters, 273 pages that we cover in two weeks.  You will be in class 7 plus hours a day for 10 days of intense training.  It will be to your advantage if you review the text before class.  It is difficult to read the text in the evening when you are tired from being in class all day.  Call bookstore or call us for the text.

Number #2   Free up your weekend between the two class weeks.  The weekend between the two class weeks is the only free weekend you have to study.  You should make the most of this time. It is not a time to schedule parties and family events this weekend. This should be a study weekend.

Number #3   If your understanding of English is poor, think about transferring to

                      An Evening class

Often, it is easier for a student to take the course over ten weeks, two nights per week, when their command of English is limited. The Rules and Regulations of the Commission are in English, the textbook is in English, the Final Exam is in English and the State Test is in English. Give yourself more time to understand the textbook in an Evening course.
